16th Annual Pinnacle Design Achievement Awards

Next Wednesday, June 15, is the deadline to enter the American Society of Furniture Designers "16th annual Pinnacle Design Achievement Awards".

Saluting the best home furnishings designs in a number of categories, the 2011 Pinnacles will be presented at an awards banquet on Oct. 24, during the fall High Point Market. Entry forms and supplemental information about entering are available at http://www.asfd.com/Downloads/.

The Pinnacles honor the work of talented designers and the companies that support and encourage originality and innovation, according to the ASFD. The awards program also includes the Green Leaf Award, added last year, which salutes sustainable design as good design.

Furniture/Today continues as the major underwriter of the Pinnacle Awards.

The 2011 Pinnacle sponsors are AF Lighting, Continental Brass, EarthCare Inside, Furniture Design Studios, High Point Market Authority, Hickory Springs Mfg., Home Furnishings Business, the International Home Furnishings Center, Leggett & Platt, Market Square & Suites and The Sherwin-Williams Co.

Judges have been named for the 2011 awards. They are Richard Bennington, High Point University; Mary Brehm, Norwalk Furniture & Design, Raleigh, N.C.; Amelia Ellenstein, Art Van Furniture, Warren, Mich.; Jackie Hirschhaut, American Home Furnishings Alliance; Michael Lennon, City Furniture, Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; Bruce Mulder, Kendall College of Art and; Design; Sheila Long O'Mara, Home Furnishings Business; Connie Post, Connie Post Global Media; Dianne Ray, Garden City Furniture, Garden City, S.C.; Thomas Russell, Furniture/Today; Shane Spiller, Spiller Furniture, Tuscaloosa, Ala.; and Rhonda Wolf, Havertys Furniture, Atlanta.

Pinnacle finalists will be released and posted on the ASFD website following the judging in late June. Winners will be revealed at the 2011 Pinnacle Awards Banquet on Monday evening, Oct. 24, in the IHFC Ballroom during the fall High Point Market.

Boston Early Music Channel Giveaway

Eligibility. Contest entrants must be at least 18 years old as of June 1, 2011 and a resident of one of the six New England states of the United States. This contest is sponsored by the WGBH Educational Foundation, One Guest Street. Boston, MA 02135. Employees, board members and advisory committee members of WGBH, and their respective immediate family and household members are not eligible. All federal, state, and local laws and regulations apply. Void wherever prohibited or restricted by law.

Entry Period
The contest period for the Boston Early Music Channel Giveaway begins at 12:01AM Eastern Time June 1, 2011 and ends at 11:59PM Eastern Time on June 30, 2011 (the "Entry Period").

How to Enter
No purchase or contribution is necessary. Of course, we appreciate contributions, but sending a contribution will not affect your chances of winning.

You can enter the contest during the Entry Period by going to www.wgbh.org/bostonearlymusiccontest and submitting the completed online entry form. Entries received outside of the Entry Period and incomplete entries are void.

Prizes
One (1) Grand Prize and 10 additional prizes will be awarded.

The Grand Prize consists of the following :
• CD recording : Trio Settecento’s “A German Bouquet” Approximate retail value of the Grand Prize is $15.

Each additional prize consists of the following:
• Book: Early Music : A Very Short Introduction, by Thomas Forrest Kelly Approximate retail value of each additional prize is $12.

The value of each prize is determined by prize donor's suggested retail price or by what the prize is currently known to be selling for at the time the offer was published and is subject to change. Prizes are not redeemable for cash or transferable. All taxes on any prize, including but not limited to Federal, State, and local income and sales taxes, and any expense not covered herein (including but not limited to expenses related to the use of any prize) are the responsibility of the winner(s).

Selection of Winner
Winner(s) will be selected in a random drawing from among all eligible entries received during the Entry Period. There will be one winner selected for each prize offered. Prize drawing will be conducted by WGBH. Drawing will be conducted on or about July 15, 2011.

The Winner(s) will be required to sign and execute an Affidavit of Eligibility/Liability Release and where legal, a Publicity Release, within 14 days of notification attempt. Failure to return the affidavit in the time noted will result in disqualification of the winner(s) and an alternate winner(s) will be selected.

Odds of Winning
Odds of winning depend upon the number of eligible entries received. Entry constitutes permission (except where prohibited by law) to use the winner's name, hometown, and likeness for publicity purposes without additional compensation. Contest prize will be awarded, and the winner will be notified, by phone and/or email on or about July 20, 2011 or in a timely fashion.

Limit of Entry
Limit one entry per person for the entire Entry Period. An email address may only be used once and not for multiple entrants or entries for this contest. By entering, entrant acknowledges compliance with these official rules including all eligibility requirements. WGBH is not responsible for failures in technology such as but not limited to: technical malfunctions, lost/delayed data transmission, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, line failures of any telephone network, computer equipment, software, inability to access any Web site or online service, or any other error or malfunction, or late, lost, incorrect or inaccurate transcription of entry information, or for any human error, or misdirected entries. Entry materials that have been tampered with or altered are void. No copies, facsimiles or reproductions of the WGBH Contest Entry Form will be accepted. Proof of e-mailing and/or mailing does not constitute proof of delivery or receipt.

Other Important Points
By entering, entrants agree to abide by and be bound by these Contest Rules. By entering the Contest, entrants release WGBH and its employees, officers, trustees and agents from any liability, including personal injury or property damage, with respect or related to the receipt or use of any prize awarded.
